My pool is green! There are several reasons why green algae might appear in a swimming pool; it's water, and it can support life.

Check that the test kit is not expired and/or giving false readings; use a pool kit or a pool cleaning kit that measures free chlorine (pink scale) and not one that measures total chlorine (yellow scale).

Check the pH and if it is out of balance, correct it between 7.0 and 7.2. If the pH is high, adjust it with a reducer; if it is low, use a pH increaser before continuing with the treatment.
